“…so when can I have a cheat day?” If I had a nickel for every time I was asked this I would be filthy rich..or perhaps just full because I could probably only buy myself a meal with it but anyway who cares the point is that I would have a lot of nickels. First thing first..we have to correct your way of thinking. Your fitness journey is not suppose to be torture. It is not suppose to be a part of your life that you feel like you have to be rescued from one day of the week. Have you ever witnessed a person that claimed that they are having a cheat day and proceed to put a buffet out of business? It’s like they feel like they are free and can finally enjoy themselves. The thing is you are suppose to be enjoying yourself during your journey. It is hard but you aren’t suppose to think of it as something that you hate or have to do. A cheat day is a treat. The next correction is you thinking that you’re about to have “treats” all day! We don’t do cheat days we do one cheat meal one day of the week. You don’t want to reverse the hard work you’ve done by eating unhealthy the whole day. I always take it a step further and allow myself a cheat item. For example one thing on my plate would be considered a little naughty and the rest would be vegetables or something. The anal girl I told you about last week still lives in the back of my mind and won’t let me go crazy even when I want to!
You are going to go out. You are going to go on dates, out with your girls/guys or events. You are going to have a life. You can still be healthy and have a life. I’ve told you in a previous blog to drop the negative Nancy’s in your life. So when I say you are going to have a life you are going to have a life with people that are positive and support you. That means fellowshipping with them is not going to cause you to stray from your goals. They aren’t going to have anything to say about you picking the healthier choice on the menu. I’m not going to lie I sip when I want to. Remember this is your life. No I’m not bringing a bag of carrots to dinner with my friends and drinking a water with lemon when I really want wine. I pick the healthier dinner option, sip if I want to and enjoy my evening with my friends. I know some people would be against what I’m telling you but this is one of the reasons for my continued success. I allow myself to live a little!
Speaking of living..I had the hard job of testing out drinks for you guys. I know I know…this sweet giving heart of mine. Haha. My friends over at Experience Life Magazine had a lovely list of summer mocktails for me to choose from. Making the drinks alcohol free will be less calories but I’m going to include the alcohol just in case you need to turn it up a notch.
