Fitness in Dallas!

One of my best friends just got an awesome job opportunity..everyone say “Congrats best friend!!” To celebrate my best friend’s success the crew and I went on a road trip to Dallas. Dallas is only about 3 hours from Houston but you know I had to pack some healthy snacks for the road. I ate light on Friday because I was sure that the weekend was going to be filled with calories and I was right. Before we met up to leave for Dallas I ate a veggie sandwich on wheat bread. My healthy snack pack consist of nuts, wheat crackers, graham crackers and chips fried in canola oil to protect my stomach because I was sure we were going to drink that night and I was right. We arrived in Dallas and started the celebration off the right away. I burned off a little of the calories from drinking out dancing with my friends. Dancing is the best cardio especially when you’re with friends that are so fun that you don’t even realize that you’re breaking a sweat. After we left the club everyone was hungry. It was around 3 A.M. when we arrived at a breakfast restaurant. I was naughty and got a veggie sandwich, side salad and fried mozzarella sticks. I don’t eat cheese a lot and fried food is definitely a treat. I shared my cheese sticks with my friends and didn’t think that they noticed me peeling the fried part off of my cheese sticks but of course they did. One fried cheese stick was enough! I try not to be hard on myself but I usually just need to taste something bad not have a full plate of it. After our late night dining we went back to our room and called it a night. How dare we sleep on full stomachs!..but I got us all together on Saturday morning. My friends and I woke up and put on our exercise clothes. I love my friends..they really are always ready for whatever. I led them in a workout class (which I have on video below). After we had an amazing workout overlooking the Dallas skyline we got ready to go have lunch. We had lunch in downtown Dallas at a Thai restaurant. Thai food is my favorite! I drank water (I drank a lot of water that weekend) and had edamame and tofu pad thai. Tofu is my favorite food ever and the tofu pad thai was delicious. We almost got away with not drinking until my crew’s friend from college joined us. We drank and had a great time together. Sometimes you have to let your hair down and not worry about every calorie entering your body. After saying goodbye to their college friend we went to go meet another one of their college friend’s at a reggae day party. We had a great time there too (wink wink) and I shared a plate of fried zucchini with my friends. I occasionally took some herb french fries off my best friend’s plate. The herb fries were so good! That night we went out and had one of the best nights ever. We laughed and danced and had so much fun with each other. Make sure you surround yourself around people that love you. Positive energy is a necessity in any relationship that you have with someone. You have to make sure that you are not only filling your body with good things but your heart, mind and soul with good things too. I tell you about my wonderful and loving friends because I hope that you have the type of people around you that would go to the store and come back with organic candy for you so that you won’t feel left out. I know that is small but I notice everything. They don’t try to mess up my journey if anything they let me know that they support me and have my back. After an incredible Saturday my friends and I woke up super sluggish. My body was so upset with me for eating a slice of thin crust cheese and pineapple pizze at 4 A.M. in the morning and was so over the alcohol.  When you live a healthy lifestyle your body does not react to unhealthy food too well and my body was too through with my unhealthy choices. I felt heavy. I drank a lot of water trying to make my body be my friend again. She was not happy. We skipped breakfast and lunch..that’s how slow we were moving (sad HaHa) and I had hummus for snack. For dinner we went to a Cajun restaurant and I had a Caesar salad with blackened shrimp. My body finally decided to forgive me during our stroll after dinner around downtown Dallas. After having a mini photo shoot in downtown Dallas we headed back to Houston. I had such a great time with my friends in Dallas. We all needed the trip and came back home feeling refreshed and recharged. I will always share my vacations with my TDF readers because you all will see that I am not perfect nor a fitness robot that does everything right. I have a good time and I do sometimes splurge and eat a little unhealthy. I call it living. Live a little but know when enough is enough. Dallas you were good to me…and friends you were even better.
